Software Engineer

Appian Way Energy Partners is currently accepting applications for a Software Engineer / Data Engineer position to work fully onsite at our office in Cambridge, MA.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or a related field and at least 2 years’ work experience software development 

  • Strong Python development skills

  • Relational database skills, SQL, and/or Snowflake 

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a focus on process improvement 

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with a high degree of accuracy

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to present complex information clearly

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Broad experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS), including EC2, S3, Lambda

  • Experience with data engineering: building pipelines, ETL, CICD, etc

  • Direct experience with FTR trading in one or more U.S. electricity markets.

Summary:

This role will be the fifth member of the software engineering team, with broad responsibilities related to maintaining our data pipelines and supporting our traders in any way that makes sense.

Each member of the team is a generalist who ultimately becomes a leader for various tools, data, and focus of support.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Software Development  

  • Maintain, monitor, and create data pipelines, dashboards, and analytics software using python.  

  • Refactor existing code to improve current business processes  

  • Create and maintain dashboards using Dash plotly 

  • Optimize and Implement database structures and data products  

  • Relational database knowledge (SQL Server, stored procedures)  

  • Big Data, analytical, and/or non-relation databases (Snowflake, AWS Athena, DynamoDB)  

  • Support trading teams  

  • Work with trading teams to understand their data and application needs 

  • Work across teams to ensure that solutions work across markets
