Power Trading Analyst
Appian Way Energy Partners LLC is currently accepting applications for Power Trading Analysts (multiple openings) at our 25 Mount Auburn Street, Suite 400, Cambridge, MA 02138 location.
Rate of Pay: $140,000/year
Minimum Requirements:
Master's Degree in Applied Statistics, Statistical Practice, Energy Systems, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, and 2 years work experience as a Power Trading Analyst or any power market occupation involving quantitative analysis of the electricity market. Graduate academic coursework or knowledge involving optimal power flow modeling tools (such as PowerWorld, GEMAPS, DAYZER or Gridview) is required. Python and SQL coding/database skills are also required.
Job Responsibilities:
1. Lead the analysis and forecasting of power market dynamics across multiple U.S. electricity markets.
2. Provide advanced analytical support for real-time and long-term decision-making in energy trading operations.
3. Utilize complex economic and statistical methodologies, including machine learning algorithms, to extract insights from structured and unstructured datasets and identify profitable trading opportunities.
4. Manage the development, calibration, and refinement of proprietary power market models that incorporate transmission grid behavior,
market rules, and emerging distributed energy technologies (including energy storage and DERs).
5. Conduct in-depth research and scenario analysis to evaluate long-term trends in market fundamentals, regulatory policies, and system operations.
6. Collaborate with other trading professionals to enhance model performance and ensure integration into live trading environments.
